Effort fails to extend Missouri tax deduction to non-Missouri 529s
The Missouri Senate has removed a provision in a bill (HB 959) that would extend Missouri's tax deduction for 529 contributions to non-Missouri 529 plans. The state treasurer had opposed the bill. HB 959 as amended would also create a new Missouri college savings plan to be offered through Missouri banks. The bill is now expected to pass the Legislature and move to the Governor's desk.
