Utah's new flat tax does not allow UESP deductions

Utah has adopted a new flat tax effective in 2007. Each year, the Utah taxpayer will choose between the flat tax method and the traditional tax method. Under the flat tax method, contributions to Utah's 529 plan are not deductible. Nor are mortgage interest payments, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
