Higher education bill introduced in the House

A bill to reauthorize the Higher Education Act for the next five years was introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives on November 9, 2007.

Among the many provisions in the 747-page bill, college cost increases would be monitored more closely, and new restrictions placed on federal student loan providers. Little would change in the formula for determining eligibility for federal student aid.
